Bedford-Stuyvesant Community Garden

This project takes its place among the impressive list of community gardens for Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project. Target funded the transformation of this vacant lot into a popular community amenity. The community defined program includes gathering, gardening and getting a little piece of nature is this dense Bed-Sty neighborhood.

This small lot contains an inviting front entry court, a raised sheltered patio in the rear and a central lawn panel in between. Plantings include privacy hedges, fruit trees, a rose border and garden plots for the neighborhood green thumbs.
